I will be in Southern Oregon in mid August and am trying to decide on whether to travel through the Umpqua Valley and onto Crater Lake or shooting more towards the coast. In the Umpqua I can see several falls that I can shoot and of course Crater Lake (where I have never been) but I cannot determine what kinds of stuff I could visit/shoot more towards the coast. Are there waterfalls, great forests etc taht I can shoot there?
I am really looking for your advice and help with deciding which way I should go. Southern more coastal or mor mid/Umpqua/Crater Lake stuff.
If anyone else is going to be in the area at that time let me know.
Richard,
Thhe southern coast is usually socked in with fog or low clouds during the mid summer months. There are days when the sun comes out but it isn't very often. You don't have to go far inland to escape the fog and low clouds. I would suggest the Siskiyou forest area arounnd Agness and the Rouge River. Crater Lake would be OK but the sky is usually totally clear that time of year.
