OK,

What was your favourite image of the last two weeks, the 10->23rd July '06.

Please either vote below (using the title of the posting) or by email to Tom_W and please feel free to say why it was your favourite image; what makes it STANDOUT.

Remember

1) All SELECTED images must adhere to 'Sean's Rule'. i.e. "Only images deemed to have been taken within the last 4 weeks, of a non-captive subject, are to be considered."

N.B. "The Mods" images are not to be considered and you cannot pick the previous winner if the subject in their latest image is of the same species.

Result will be posted on 6th August

My vote goes for Danny's Puffins at Dusk, it stands out because its differant from the run of the mill, beautifully executed and simply great.

European Brown Bear by Javier Martin gets my vote.
A simple composition taken in difficult light. The white of the eye shows a touch of fear, which is why the critter is there in the first place.

Brown Hare "portrait" by David Kjaer for my vote.

David has produced an image of stunning quality and detail, of a difficult animal to approach.
A simple but very striking image

I have three candidates ;

Puffin in Flight - Danny Green
The Lookout - Philip Kirkham
Broad Bodied Chaser #2 - Tim Munsey

Danny's Puffin in flight is a great image and technically a difficult shot to achieve, but it was posted on July 8th so strictly speaking outside of the challenge period (unless the moderators bend the rules a bit....)

I thought Philip Kirkham's The Lookout was a great macro shot and managed to make a grubby insect look cute and humourous. But as Phil is a moderator he can't be a pick for the challenge.

Tim's Broad Bodied Chaser #2 is a classic macro shot. A Great angle with superb colour and detail, this therefore gets my nod as the pick of the bunch for this challenge.

cheers

I’m with John on this one; Javier Martins European Brown Bear is a simple but a stunning shot that shows real behaviour taken in very difficult conditions.

Many wonderful shots to choose between. My favourite though is Dannys "Puffins at dusk".

So many good shots posted in the time frame it is difficult to pick which one, I really liked three images and as we are during the summer all three have been Macro work.

Tim Munseys White letter Hairstreak is a beautiful image of an extremely hard species to photograph.

Sean Boltons stunning image of a Marbled White was again beautiful and saying he has only had the lens a short time can't wait to see more of his work.

But for me I will go for barrie courtneys Migrant Hawker in flight it is a bloody belter and one of the best dragonfly shots that I have seen posted.

Cheers

Danny

My vote goes to Phil Hurst "King Fisher with roach" excellent in every way and not too many of these elusive birds posted on UKNP
