Kingfisher with Roach
20D, 400/2.8 + 2x, ISO200, 1/250 @ f10, EV-1/3, Gitzo 500 + 393, RSP + CS2

Hi,

I wasn't going to post this image but as John Varley mentioned it in a previous thread here it is...

The perch I know is not to everyones liking but that is all there is at this location where images like this are relatively easy as long as you are patient, unfortunately it is not possible to change it.

I use this site mainly as an indicator for their return at a couple of sites I use which are not as easily accessable...

All the best

Phil

Have you seen the Varley? He's on your patch this week, beware of white beards carrying canon's. You know he's just discovered auto focus.
Great shot, perhaps a touch more USM on the eye, dead jealous.

Hi Phil

A quality image, great pose. I agree with Tim you should apply a bit more USM than you normally would to counter the effects of the 2x TC.

cheers

Don't mind the perch at all Phil - it's a nice shot, and one that I would love to have on the books.

If i had a nit to pick, it would be that you might want to do a bit more selective sharpening around the eye - it has a slightly misted look due to the sky highlight in the upper LH corner of the eye.

See what you'd have missed if you got rid of the kit

Hi Phil

Beautiful - yes you could make the eye sparkle a little more, but I still love it!

Works for me.
Patience was well rewarded here.

Hi Phil

I don't mind the perch either or did you say roach (sorry), a bird I am yet to do and would love this in my files.

Hello Phil
I agree with the comments about the eye, I think the shine on the roach is excellent.
Best wishes

Gorgeous and yes, a little more sharpning around the eye would be good.
