Shrine Pass (again!)
Popular place this time of year! It's interesting to hear the varied impressions of the wildflower display.

Here's a link to some snapshots that I posted for family. I didn't really come away with any stunners, but had a lot of fun playing around in the rain (it was raining hard both times we went up there) and came home with a collection of decent digipics from the p&s.

As Chris stated in his post, there were some great patches of flowers, so even though they may not have been as dense as in previous years, there were a lot of opportunities for more intimate shots. The second time up we took Jennifer's parents and they were blown away by the range of colors of the paintbrush.

I had pulled out the LF a couple of times when low clouds rolled through making for nice misty, foggy middle and backgrounds, but could never pull it off before the clouds moved on and the mood changed. The shot here is similar to what I was trying to capture with the LF; this was captured on an Olympus C-8080, as was most of the other images that I linked to.

I've always had a problem with those ever-present stumps on Shrine Pass, and that continues here. They're almost jarring. But I can almost feel the moisture on my face from just looking at the conditions you were working in. Despite the stumps, this is nice.

Rick - great images. My favorite is the first one on your "snapshots" page.

Are you shooting in RAW mode in your C8080?

Thanks fellas. René - I shoot RAW on the Olympus when I think I've got something good; when dinking around like I was up at Shrine, I just shoot jpg. The main reason is limited hard drive space, and I'm not very good at deleting the non-keepers... Another reason is that the Oly is very slow when writing RAW files to the flash card.
