Had some work on Lake Taps on monday, so I decided to drive a bit longer and check the paradise. Well two accidents, slowed me down so much that I didn't almost made it. I only had an hour or so to get up there. It looks still very cold. There is still a lot of snow, but some Lilies are already blooming. There is certainly much more snow than last year.

Tomas you found a spot with a lot more avalanche then I did. The hardest thing I found on the weekend trying to capture the avalanche lilies was the constant wind. Trying to shot at f/22 to capture D.O.F. - it caused to long of a shutter speed and when I shot at f/11 I lost front to back sharpeness. Are u going to try again shortly up there ?

For anyone who dosen't know, the Avalanche Lillies usually bloom 1-2 weeks before Paintbrush, 2-3 weeks before Lupine hits peak. Peak looks like the fist week of August to me.

It does look cold, that just looks darn nice though... doesn't look like much longer and there will be lots of blooms... Beautiful shot

Yes first two weeks of August look like a peak to me as well. There are flowers everywhere in the lower elevations already.
