I figured I probably wasn't the only non-mac user around here who has been interested in trying Adobe's new Lightroom software. I just got the email this morning that it is available. Check it out here if you are interested .

Jason - thanks for the information. I had signed up for the notification and I did not get an email.

I got my notification last night also. I like the better integration of the browser & RAW file conversion. Easy zoomed views allowing comparison of images before conversion should really help the workflow. So, once they get some better performace (or I upgrade my hardware), it should be a worthwhile upgrade.

However, their database centered approach will probably limit my use of Lightroom. I bounce between laptop, desktop Houston and desktop Denver. I doubt keeping the image settings synchronized between multiple computers is something that I want to deal with. I hope the final release gives users an option of storing settings with the images, external to any application database.

I've been playing with it today. Lots to learn, but looks very promising.

So, I have been playing around with Lightroom for a couple days now. I certainly like many things about it. The control of curves is a great improvement over photoshop in my opinion and the power of the tools in the develop module really opens up some new possibilities. The integration of Camera Raw is nice and I can see this replacing Adobe Bridge in my workflow.

I would be interested to hear other thoughts, especially anyone who may have been using it for several months as the Mac beta has been out since January.
