Emerald Damsel (but is it scarce?)
Just got back from a rewarding session on the moor. I saw this one across a fence, so climbed over without tripod and shot a few hand held before it flew off. I have looked really closely at my ID books and I wondered if it could be the Scarce Emerald?
Can anyone help please - I have more images if necessary, but all HH.
Best wishes
Phil

Hello Phil

Its an emerald but not the scarce species of the lestes family, it only occures in parts of east anglia and also a couple of sights in ireland, but nice shot and looks good from above.

Thanks Danny, I wasn't sure, but I will go back in the next few days and take tripod with me to hopefully get some decent images of it. I seem to have come across a wealth of insects on the moor, I just wish my knowledge of them was better.
Sorry for the quality of this image guys, it was just for ID purposes,
Best wishes

Hi Philip

Sharpness aside this is a nice composition. The square composition works well with the diagonals from the plant stem, the body and the wings. Reshoot with a tripod and you have a winner.

cheers
