Forlorn-hope
I noticed this mistletoe seed attached to a dead twig on my Classic Blenheim Orange apple tree. It is unusual in producing three hypocotyls to attach itself to the twig. The norm is one and sometimes two. Unfortunately it is doomed to failure as the twig is completely dead.

Sony DSC F717 hand held, natural light, cropped.
