This is the first photo I've posted to this forum. It's a pine marten that I saw from my kitchen window last winter. At that time we lived 30 miles east of Meeker and our place was adjacent to the White River National Forest near great spruce/fir habitat. No pine marten habitat where we live now, still in NW Colorado but only 6 miles east of Meeker.
I know this photo has problems but I was happy to have such a close look at one of these pretty creatures and thrilled to get any photo at all. Any input or critisism is welcome.
Don't be too hard on yourself. Problems? Very minor if there are any. These fellas' are a very rare catch. I've seen only a few in many years treking hundreds if not thousands of miles through good habitat.
What's the problem? I don't see a problem here, unless there is a color issue that only you are aware of because you were there... great DOF, perfect focus, excellent detail, perfect color saturation... I'm trying to find the problem and... oh, wait a minute... yep there it is... that left toenail is too close to the edge... *sigh*
This is a great shot Dona, Nice work!

I was so captivated by the little guy's eyes that I didn't notice anything until Curtis pointed out a minor nit. Even with that, I feel it is an outstanding shot! I look forward to seeing more of your work.
Dona, welcome to the forum and what a great first post! I see no problems with this shot at all, or at least no problems that would bother me a bit. As Dan said, it's rare enough to actually see a pine marten in the clear, let alone be able to get as wonderful a shot as this!
Hi Dona and welcome to the forum! This indeed is an "Excellent" first post!! No nits from me at all! In capturing images of animals the single most important aspect to get spot on "right" is the eyes MUST be in focus and you've nailed that one perfectly! Very well done!!
Not that we wouldn't LOVE to have ya hang out here but you may get more value out of looking at the above mentioned forum which I'm sure will provide tons of local Colorado information for you.
Thanks for the welcomes and kind comments on my photo. I actually meant to join the Rocky Mountain group but somehow I must have hit the wrong button somewhere. I'll try the one I should be on. I'd say I am sorry, but truthfully, I enjoyed comments. Hope the Rocky Mountain people are as nice.

On a different note you may not be aware that there is an NPN forum for the folks living in Colorado: Rocky Mountain Nature Photographers
