While ordering some more Eclipse fluid, I noticed on the manufacturer website they do not recommend Pec Pads for sensor cleaning as with the Copper Hill Method.
As they manufacture both, one would think they knew what they were talking about. On the other hand, at $50 for a dozen Sensor Swipes it may be a case of modern marketing.
Has anyone heard of any damages to sensors as a result of Pec Pads?
I use the pec pads and Eclipse with the applicator that comes with the Copper Hill system without problems. The cost is much lower than Sensor Swabs. Maybe I am doing it wrong, but Ifind I need to use about 3-6 Sensor Swabs or Copper Hill Pec Pads per deep cleaning of my sensor. Sensor Swabs are just too expensive when the Pec Pads work just as well.
Pec Pads are used for a variety of other tasks so when you have dedicated lots of money and marketing to creating Sensor Swabs you naturally "recommend them" LOL - the primary differences are costs and convenience. It's very convenient to use Sensor Swabs but also very expensive. I bought one round of Sensor Swabs and just use the little plastic centers to mount my Pec Pads on. As long as you don't try to cut them and get "frizzies" which can fall off onto the AA filter in front of the sensor, Pec Pads work just as well in my experience.
