I took our family to CB last week for our first time. We were very impressed the flowers and overall beauty of the area. We went over Kebler Pass to Aspen on the way home, Then over Independence Pass. Here is a link to the pictures: http://imageevent.com/dereksurfs/crestedbutteaspen2006
The family was asleep over Independence Pass so I couldn't get out and explore there. But it looked like there were some really cool waterfalls which could be hiked to.
Also the Oh-Be-Joyfull area looked like it had a really nice waterfall. But I didn't have the chance to hike to it. I did find a waterfall near Emeral Lake that Justin King described in his thread "Rainy Crested Butte."
The only not so great day was our last one at Maroon Bells. The lighting was pretty flat with low clouds and rainy conditions.
overall we found Gothic Road to have the best wildflowers, epecially higher up near Emerald Lake.
Thanks to all who gave us tips on where to go without a 4x4.

I love your flowers and butte shot. I'm off to check out the rest. Glad you had a good time!
Here are the ones I really really like...#2, 5, 7, 8, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, 43, 44, 48, 52, 58, 60, 63, 64! Not a bad haul over all, I liked all of the shots but these were the standouts to my eye.

Thanks James,
Your tips and guidance helped me the most while I was up there. Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the area.
Denise, Let us know how it goes. I also heard that Rustler's Gulch was really in bloom, but it was a bit too far for us to bring the little ones along.
