I tried to capture the mood of this rather subtle ocean sunset. The sun peeked through for a few minutes before it descended, and illuminated the river flowing into the ocean in a dusky twilight.
Composed with the sun to the right to balance the s curve of the river.

Oh, I like this a lot. It is little soft (you might try Marc technique for the web preparation), and the grad line is bit visible, but I like it. The sun and the clouds are very cool. Amazing what you can get from Lodge parking lot around here
Pretty cool shot Harald. The magenta is a bit strong thoughout, but I actually like it. Great comp.

I love the Comp but it has a bit too much purple for my tastes......

Thanks for the comments.
Tomas,
Guess that's the reason they built the lodge there. Interesting that it looks a bit soft to you;
on my screen it looks sharp. The only photoshop processing I did was sharpen and unsharp mask with ps elements. I've tried Marc's method, but somehow it didn't work as well with the scanned slides.
Where do you see the line from the reverse grad filter? I must be missing it. I've tried to be very careful aligning it with the horizon.
Marc, Darren,
The magenta hue is due to a Hoya enhancing filter combined with the reverse grad Singh-Ray to make the image a bit more lively and to reduce the strong blue tint of the light that was present at the time.

I like it, but might have moved more to the left, to get the sun put of the trees., and put the reflection into the middle of the river. A bit too stong purple for my tastes, too..Sandy
Wicked colors... wonderful shot... I can see how the purple might seem too much as it seems unrealistic, but with other colors being "correct" it brings it back to a realistic color (in ones mind) very cool, a deffinte distinct mood.
