Does anyone know of any sunflower fields within an hour or two of Denver (the large, planted sunflowers, not the natural ones). Are the sunflowers in bloom yet or is too early? too late?

There are quite a few in the Longmont area. The first that comes to mind is off Hwy 52, several miles west of I-25, across from The Tree Farm. I haven't been up there, but I think it's still a bit early?

There's a big field of them just west of 25 at approx. exit 250. I can't remember if it's between Loveland & Fort Collins or south of Loveland. I noticed it when I drove down to Denver last weekend, so it must be blooming pretty well right now. Normally that field lasts into the first half of September.

Okay, stop reading my mind! (I know I know...it's a short story) I was going to post that question tonight. Thanks for the info guys.

I found a nice field of them near Berthoud. Take the I-25 exit for Berthoud and head west towards Carter Lake I believe? Take that road a couple miles and you will find them on your left. That was a couple years ago however...

I don't recall the exact week it was, but it must be getting close... Especially with all the hot weather?

I haven't been there this year, but I know is years past there were fields of them on hwy 52, off of I-76, just east of Hudson. Also, if the flowers aren't blooming, Banner Lakes SWA is right there, which offers some fun photo ops (just watch out for the high tension wires! )

There is a small feild if you take I-25 North Bound take exit 243 go west over interstate and they are on the right. I am stopping by there this afternoon to see how far they are along. Also, the ones on 52 look like corn fields, last year they were Sunflowers. I will keep this updated if I find anymore

Brenden, which ones off of 52? The fields I mentioned (east of Hudson) or the ones Scott mentioned (west of I-25). Just curious, because I have been thinking of heading over to Banner Lakes for sunset one of these days.

Grant and others -

The sunflowers around the 52 area are not to the point of blooming as of yet. On 287 north of the intersection with 52 there are a couple of flields. This is an area that I drive on almost a daily basis. When I start seeing the first flowers I'll post info.

the ones west of I-25 close to 287 is the ones I am talking about. Also, the sunflowers at exit 243 are nice I stopped to look last night. Not a ton of them might have to ask permission to get some good shots. :jump:

I think the sunflowers at I-25 exit 243 are harvested, the field was empty today when I looked. Pity, they were nice.

I just drove in from Last Chance on Highway 36 and there are lots of fields around Byers, there's an especially nice one about 10 miles east on 36. The surrounding countryside is still fairly green if that's what you want. I can only imagine that it will start to turn brown in the coming weeks.
