I just spent the weekend up at Mt. Rainer and the wildflowers are coming along but not quite there yet. The image was shot in the Paradise River. I stood in the middle drowning myself thinking of all the guys who have dropped their cameras in the water and I was shaking thinking about it. I do not know about the rest of you but it is so hard to capture wildflowers on Rainer without the wind destroying all the shots. I have taken several trips but everytime it is blowing. I tried bumping the ISO to get a faster shot but the image is too grainy even at 320 - I shot at f/11 or f/8 forgoing some D.O.F. but the wind still blows too hard. When I find good patches they are way out and I cant capture the wide angle look with the mountain in the back. Does anyone have any advice how to beat the wind ?

Just before the sun lights up the slopes in the morning, and immediately after evening shadows cover the hillside, you will have your best opportunities to beat the wind. Also watch for forecasts of fog. Seldom any wind when it is foggy everywhere.
