New name for this weekly NPN tradition!

Some really nice photos posted this week, making the job of selecting just one very difficult!

Congratulations to Doug Backlund (Avian), Salvo Orlando (E,S&S), Graeme Guy (Fauna), Michael Lowe (Flora), Tim Munsey (M/CU), Michael Lilly (M&N), Ganesh Shankar (PA) and gary Minish (WC# 239 - "Fog").

Avian - Why this image was picked

A recent request in the General Discussion Forum asked for a posted rational for picking a specific image. While we can't promise to do this every week, here's ours for this week.

As usual, there were a number of outstanding images in Avian this week, any one worthy of the pick. While not technically perfect, Doug's image grabbed our attention with it's uniqueness. The image portrays a relatively difficult species to photograph in a characteristic behavior that is extremely rare to see. Congrats to Doug for a special image.

Congrats to all winners...great images as usual! And it's interesting, and I think helpful, to have an explanation of why the images are picked. :jump:
