My Iiyama CRT monitor will soon need to be replaced and as all manufacturers appear to be ceasing production of CRT screens I have been looking at the Eizo range of LCD monitors.
I have set myself a budget of £1,000 (British Pounds) and have been looking closely at three of Eizo's monitors: 1) ColorEdge CE210W 2) ColorEdge CG19 3) Flexscan SlimEdge L997
Does anyone use any of these monitors, if so I would appreciate some feed back or any suggestions with regard to LCD monitors.
Regards
David

I looked at the Eizo's but decided to go for a Dell widescreen, which in my opinion, is very very good and cheaper!

Hi David,
I recently bought an Eizo S1910 (19" LCD) and I love it. I don't know the monitors that you mentioned, but wichever you choose, with Eizo you can't go wrong
Dell 24" widescreen is the way to go. Nothing else comes close, not even a 23" apple cinema screen.

I'm behind a Dell 19" (1905) right now and I don't like it at all. I've seen the Apple 23" and I really loved it....so I'm really surprised that people say that the 24" Dell is so good. The EIZO 210W seems really interesting as well as does the new IIyama graphic series...So I'd be interested to hear some more reviews as well.

Jasper you are comparing appels met peren. Your Dell is a cheap Dell screen and NOT a widescreen like the 2405 FPW. I think the Apples are very good but overpriced and not that much better. If you would do a bit of research on the internet and other forums you will see that the Dell widescreen get an excellent rating overall.

Ofcourse get an Apple, if money is no showstooper!

Hi David,
I have been planning on switching from a CRT to a high quality LCD that can do at least 1600 x 1200. I am currently using a Sony GDM-F600 which is the highest resolution flat screen CRT that Sony ever made. I have never found a sharper, cleaner, higher resolution CRT anywhere. With 0.21 dot pitch and a max resolution of 2048 x 1536 its an incredible monitor. I run it at 1600 x 1200 (because the text is too small otherwise). Unfortunately it is getting old and since I have previous experience with a Sony GDM-F400 I am recognizing some slight deterioration that means it doesn't have very much life left. It also weighs 75# and takes up my whole desk plus it takes at least 20 minutes to warm up to full contrast. Since I am spoiled rotten by the image quality of the F-600 I won't be satisfied with anything but the best LCD so I have done quite a bit of research and review reading. From what I've read, the Dell 2405 FPW, the 23" Apple and the Eizo S2410W are the cream of the crop for LCDs with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. From all indications they are essentially equivalent with only minor differences in image quality and response. The biggest difference is the price. Both the Eizo and the Apple run around $1600 US while the Dell is presently selling for $703 US. For me that makes the Dell a cinch. If I was going to spend $1600 I would still go for a Dell, because I would buy this. They have a few refurbished ones in their outlet store for $1600 US. Dell provides a full new warranty on their refurbished equipment. My last two computers have been refurbished Dells and I haven't had any problems at all so I wouldn't hesitate to buy one of these 30" monitors if I was going to spend $1600.

Thanks for your input Rene,
I think I will look further into the new 20" LaCie 320, which seems very good.I'll certainly checkout the Dell but for now the Apple and LaCie look the most interesting to me.

I have been very happy with my Eizo FlexScan SlimEdge. Sharp, great contrast and very easy to profile.

Thank you all for your comments, which have helped. I think the biggest surprise was the Dell and after making a few more enquiries there top of the range screens appear very good value. Although a little expensive I am still inclined towards the Eizo which always seem to have the eddge in the few tests I have managed to find and in the UK they offer a 5year warranty as standard.

Hi David
If you are still deciding about monitors, I have just read this article about the Eizo CE240W, which I guess is the big brother of the CE210W.
