Greetings everybody,

As is always the way, after spending a considerable amount of time on an image, I saved it in what I thought was the normal way as a Photoshop format image, closed the application and went to bed. Unfortunately when I went to open it again I find that it is saved as a Photoshop document? The Meta data shows all the other information including a file size of 18MB correct dimensions, resolution, camera data, etc, but I can not open the file

I have two questions

a) How did I do this?
b) Can I restore this image?

Thanks in advance,

Mike

What happens when you try to open the file?

Also, what OS are you using? "Photoshop Document" is a generic name for Photoshop's PSD/PSB format. I don't think that's the issue.

Hi Guy,

The message in CS2 reads
“Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document”
I am using Windows XP pro with SP2.
And yes the suffix on the document is psd

Is it possible in my tired state, I entered the wrong option when saving?
Do you think it is reversible?

Thanks

Hmm.. what is the full file name? Is it possible there's some characters in it that may be throwing it off?

Can you see the thumbnail in Bridge?

There's always a chance the file may be corrupt, but let's exhaust all other options first

Try renaming it to something simple like "test.psd" and see if that helps.

 YES, CS2 had to think about it for a minute, but YES

Thank you so much, I wasn't really looking forward to redoing it.

Thanks again
