Howdy! So, John Zinn is in town for the week on business, and boy has he made the best of it photographically! Ask him about the San Juans, and shooting 4x5 from two 14ers in less than a week! And, he's luckily dragged me along a couple times! We met up with Darren Monday night on Loveland Pass, but sadly, it was a non sunset! About as gray and dull as you could imagine! Tuesday night, John headed back to Loveland again alone, and got a slightly better result, but not much. Last night I think more than made up for the two previous dud sunsets!!!
So, last night we headed up Mt. Evans, meeting up with Rene Pirolt at Summit Lake at about 7:30. The drive up was wild, lots of low clouds, thick fog. We weren't sure what was going to happen until we got about a 1/4 mile from Summit Lake, and all of a sudden, clear as an be! Could see some thinner clouds in and around the summit, just plain sweet conditions!! We raced to the parking lot at the top (don't worry John, those shorts will clean up fine! ), and hiked the trail to the summit in record time.
As you can see from the collage of images, it was a very dynamic night!! And boy, did the light and conditions move fast! DOH! The best part though, was.... no WIND! Sweet! I haven't been to the summit of Evans without wind in a long time.
Anyway, just wanted to share a few pics and words. I'll have film back in a bit, and hopefully have something worthy of posting tonight! Take care!

What a teaser! I've only been up Evans a few times, but each time featured the "above the clouds" experience. Amazing luck I think. Can't wait to see some more images.
Wow, the middle one on the right is really incredible. Nice work!

Brent, I like to lurk around here, but your images along with Jesse and Todd's have made me make my presence known. I just absolutely love that top left image. The powerful mood that it displays makes me want to be back in CO right now. I went to the top of Evans a couple years back and got nothing, but a little altitude sickeness. O' and one shot of the mountain goat I think I have viewed in many magazines and several times on NPN. I'd swear it's the same one.
Nice images, Brent

Those are some great shots! I really like the middle one on the right.
It was a great night of shooting and great to hang out with Brent and Renee. As three large format shooters all with different focal lengths, I think each came away with a different perspective. Even after the sun was long gone, the light and colors were great!!
