Is anyone familiar with Kings Lake near Winter Park? I'm looking for advice on what would be the best time of day for shooting there. Does it get morning or evening light?

I found it in my copy of "Colorado's Best Wildflower Hikes", and I picked it because it's alpine, the flowers are supposedly in season, and most importantly it's supposedly a short and rather easy hike. I haven't been too active lately since I've been sick for most of the Summer and missed out on most of the flower season, but now I'm going stircrazy to get out and have an adventure.

King Lake is definitely a sunrise destination, as it sits in a basin facing east. You could drive to Rollins (Cordova) Pass and walk to the lake in ten minutes. You could also continue on to Bob and Betty Lakes (I love that name!), which are, if memory serves me, no more than 20 minutes north of King.

FYI, there was a plane crash right near King and Bob & Betty Lakes just a few days ago that took the lives of two very experienced mountain pilots.

From the Winter Park side if I remember correctly it is labled Corona Pass not Rollins Pass.

Morning and be there b4 SR. Also, I doubt there will be any decent flowers left, judging from recent Front Range treks. You will find some nice rocks that lead into the lake and your images.

Good Luck!
