Headed to southeastern N.C. Any suggestions?

I'll be in the area for a week, any suggestions for birding/bird&wildlife photography spots? We'll have kayaks so wetland / costal locations would be great. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'm sure there are plenty of great places, but I'm not as familiar with the coast as I am the mountains. You may want to post in the SENP forum to see if any locals can give you some tips. :wavey:

I suggest Sunset Beach/Bird Island. There are great inlets to travel at high tide, and Sunset Beach can only be gotten to over a drawbridge. The waterway is gorgeous there. Sunset is the last town in NC.
