I have noticed that a good secondhand D2H is about the same price as a new D200, which one do I go for?
When I recently bought a 300/4 AFS the shop owner recommended the D2H over the D200 as it would get the best out of that lens and the 600/4 AFS I also have. I had originally planned to go the route of the D200 now I'm not so sure.

Difficult one. D2H is a speed machine, once you hold one its difficult to go back to small cameras they feel like toys in comparison. However, the D200 gives you cropability so basically you have longer reach, its quite nippy to. I suggest you don't pick a D2H that way you wont be seduced. My decision would be get a D2X they are out at under 2K secondhand now, then you have the best.

Hi I really didn't like the D2h unless you were in perfect light I felt the shadow noise was always excessive, I would go with the D200 as it is new and you have a warranty also get the grip with the D200.

Phillip.

Ps if you can find one I would go with tim's suggestion and try and find a d2x second-hand

Thanks guys,

It looks as though I'll be saving hard for the D2X, only trouble with this option is convincing my partner that spending 2k on yet more camera equipment is a good idea... any tips on this?

You could sell your first born. Mention the new D2Xs is three and a half grand but say sadly you'll make do with a D2X, also with the firmware upgrade the D2X is going to be the bargain of the centruary.
Good luck with the divorce, I did a tesco's one cost 10 quid.
