As some of you are already aware - and have informed me via email - the NPN form-based email system is now experiencing abuse in the form of unsolicited email advertising. We had recently made a revision that now requires a registration for the email link to appear, but this has not stopped the abuse entirely.

In the coming weeks, we will be making additional modifications to the system that will better enable us to deal with this problem. As will all such problems, it will take a little time and a number of measures to get a handle on this. In the mean time, never respond to any such email as doing so will reveal your email address! With our form-based system, no one will ever know your email address until you respond.

Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding while we deal with this.

Update - We have taken several measures to get a handle on the SPAM issue;

1. You must now be a registered user of the NPN forums for the email icon to appear. If you are not registered, the form email system is not available.

2. The "Message from" field on the send email screen no longer appears and is now automatically filled in with your forum user name (for this reason, you may want to include your actual name in the body of the email).

3. With this arrangement, when you forward a SPAM email to our attention we can find and delete the registration from which the SPAM was sent. We also have the option of banning by email or IP address.

These new measures now give us the ability to deal with SPAM - hopefully it will help!
