Not one, but two! Both in sharp focus as well as the flower. Can't get much better than this.

This is a wonderful shot. I'm impressed by the fantastic detail you've captured here. It was kind of these butterflies to be still for you for 1.6 seconds. :) The use of f/22 provides the depth you need for a close-up like this, and the soft, green background sets off the butterflies perfectly. Beautifully and masterfully done.

Totally flawless. They must be really still to be capture with such sharpness at such a slow shutter speed. Congrats on a great shot! :toast:

Excellent in every regard. This is an artistic and technical masterpiece!

These are beautiful specimens. Are the differences in wing pattern gender or something else? Those eyes are great. I really feel like I am being shown a special nature moment here.

Thanks for the comments!

The photo is taken in early morning, so the BF were still and it was easy to get close. Wind instead is always a problem - I have taken many shots to be sure that at least one was sharp, and I have used a Wimberley Plamp to keep the flower as still as possible.

Usually I prefer to avoid aperture as f/22 because diffraction soften the image, but here it was really necessary to get everything in focus.

Beautiful colors and detail, Juza. With that f/22, I'm assuming you were using some type of backdrop. Yes? No? Maybe?

Thanks,

Carol

Thanks for the comments!

The background is out of focus grass - with a long lens and a FF camera it is possible to get a clean BG even at f/22, if you pay attention to the angle :)

You make macro photography look so easy, I never get butterflies to sit still for me, not even for 1.6 sec

It's an image of indescribeble beauty, to look for long and silent. I think that this is the most beautiful insect macro that I ever seen in my life, for my taste. Sei bravissimo!

hi Juza, to say this is beautiful is an understatement. There are so many things I like about it, viz sharpness and exquisite texture, the symmetry, the clean background and the nice patterns on the butterflies.

Awesome!
