This is one I've been wanting for sometime now. I had the chance to shot these guys a lil bit last year but lately they've really been around a bunch! Hope you guys are as happy as I am with this one!

Amazing! This is a very cool picture, awesome detail in the feathers, would have loved to see a larger version though. Love it

It is nice! Jude, I got a Bogen window mount you might like to try, from Adorama. It works really well for me with a medium ball head. I use it with a Nikon D300 and the 80mm - 400mm Nikkor zoom, about 10 lbs. I shoot at slow shutter with the VR off (and the engine off). It does a great job! I leave the ball slightly loose where I can swing it like a turret gun, and either hand steady it or lock it down, depending. The neat thing is that it's only $27.95!

Beautiful, Jude. Incredible detail and amazing dof for f5.6. It looks like the entire bird is in nice sharp focus. :toast:

Fantastic Jude, never seen an owl with a yabby. Doesn't look like it's going to give it up any time soon either judging by that stare,

cheers Rob

I don't think there is any way to improve this. The crawfish and wing extension really take this image to another level. The lush, green BG provides the perfect setting. Congratulations!! :toast: :toast:

Thank God for crawfish - they are delicious for us locals, as well, not to mention all the birds that survive for their bounty. The pose is outstanding, the stance is quite different for a Barred Owl. Done good, Jude!

Well Jude, you can stop taking owl shots because you're not going to get one better than this! Finding a clean background in this environment is tough enough,,,,,,,,the crawfish puts it over the top.
