Storm + sandstone + chaotic elements of scene juxtaposed to form a reasonably coherent image = lame image title

Amazing sandstone formation and a great sky to compliment it, very impressive. Perhaps there is just a bit too much red/magenta in the sky, but that's something more about the personal taste than a true issue.

Oh my goodness (as you say in the west) this is marvelous. I never see a 3d scene such as this one. In my opinion the pure black shadows and the red vs blue makes this masterpiece. Thanks for posting this beauty Ian.

Yes, that's coherently composed Ian. Despite the effective mirroring or stone-patterns and cloud-scapes, I like the crisp light in this very much. Very appealing stuff!

Crazy image Ian - the light suits the image. It's vibrant, interesting and artistic...but you disappoint me with the title and description - you have set the level too high with your last few posts with those things

Strong comp, bold colors. Way to be in my face! I wish the little Gorgon wasn't staring at me with his tongue sticking out though.

I would not have thought this could work so well in this bright daylight. But it definately does work very well. I really like the bright intensity you have captured here. I love the red, white, and blue too.

thanks Chris. IMO good light happens all the time, even sometimes during the middle of the day!

I think you are right. There is always a picture to be captured at any time of the day. I just don't think there is always a photographer that can pull it off. I still find myself avoiding certain lighting situations, or choosing alternative comps that are within my abilities to deal with. So yes there is always light to be captured, just not by everyone

Beautiful image. The sense of motion in the clouds provides the right touch to set off all that stationary motion in the rock, a really interesting image. The vibrant reds and blues really pop.

Ian, once again you have successfully captured the rhythmic flows of nature. This is wild. Two thumbs up!

Hi Ian,

This is a really amazing photograph. A unique and striking composition and very different from anything I have seen from that place.

That is some strange looking sandstone for sure. Everything about the composition goes well together. The flow of the sandstone mirrors the shape of the clouds above. The red and blue contrast is well balanced and clear. All the technical aspects are good.

I am fortunate to live in the west where access to this type of desert is within a short drive. The comp on this is very good, interesting, and a good play on the geography with the clouds. I love this part of our country for its colors, shapes and texture. Nicely captured.
