Awesome Ian, love the blues and yellows, and what a catch with that sky. I kind of wish the wave of the cloud wasn't broken by the fg boulder, but your comp was probably limited by your position here.

Nice work.

Very strong foreground and sky, though the transition between the two lacks a bit compared to some of your others from the SW recently IMO (not that I don't love it anyway). How long were you out there? You sure came back with a load of images with great skies!

I like the cloud and the FG - but where the cloud touches the land could have been better. I love it anyway

Man i love the angle here. 14mm must be so sweet on full frame. I love the 3 rockpile comp and the light hitting each. Oh and that cloud ain't bad either. =)

Great sky and nice sidelight Ian. It would be nice if the sidelight reached down to the bottom of the fg rock, but I expect the terrain prevented that.

Very thoughtful choice of your positioning for the comp. The FG, MG and BG formations all key in well in the frame, not to mention the fine atmosphere and sweet light. Well done!

Very nice. Love how the cloud points towards the boulder. I was also recently thinking about acquiring the 14-24mm but after having read about problems with filters I became skeptical.

Andreas, I use filters on my 14-24mm, here's a recent review I did of the lens that explains how I do it: http://mountaintrailphoto.com/article_nikon14-24_review.htm

I use the Cokin X-Pro holder -- it's big, but it works, from 18-24mm at least! Any wider you get vignetting. Then again, that's a problem you get on just about any lens wider than 16m.

Marc, I was out west for three weeks. Actually, it was mostly high pressure and blue skies the whole time (typical desert fare!), but got a few lucky breaks here and there
