This is gorgeous Greg. The reflection in the water and the detail of the bird are really well done. Like Glenn, I wish there was a little more room behind although I like this image as is. Well done. :toast:

Very pretty image. The water is just killer in this. As noted by others, this really needs more room behind the bird. Shouldn't be too tough to add some canvas.

Greg, the colors of the water are outstanding ! As already mentioned, more room at RHS would make it a killer image. Just curious - I'm having a little difficulty wrapping my head around the light values on the bird with these surroundings esp. without fill flash, which I assume was backlit, but then maybe there's light bouncing off some bright component from behind ? Or maybe there was frontal lighting with light reflected back toward the bird from behind (hard to tell).

Excellent shot, one of those that you notice right away. Would be nice to see a little more on the right side but anyway just a wonderful shot, way to go.

I was worried the right side would be an issue. It was something I noticed as soon as I opened up the image, but I was hoping it was just me being critical. Much thanks for all the opinions! I do have my hesitations to add canvas on that side.

Bill, the light was interesting and at this location lasts only a few minutes, where the trees in the background light up but the subject is in the shade. There is enough reflection coming off the water that any bird who wanders out in the water gets illuminated in some beautiful reflective light, light which in this context is a bit reminiscent of fill flash.

Thanks again for the comments and critiques :wavey:

Really pretty! The water is amazing and imo it would surely be worth it to add some canvas to this. Nice capture. Sharon

Most excellent! The reflection of color in the water is  amazing and really sets the bird off well. I just would wish for a bit more room on the right side. Hard to do in the field sometimes when you're eager to capture the bird. I've added small strips and painted in the bg, but doing that much fixing isn't everyone's cup of tea. I love the pose of the bird and the detail you achieved. It's beautiful, Greg.

Very creative use of unusual light; I agree with others that more room on the right side would make this a stunner.

Greg,

Love the light, the color of the water, the bird's pose and the tilt of the bird's head.

As mentioned I would like to see more room on the right side, but it is still a very fine image as posted.

Lovely reflection shot Greg. Agree with a bit more on the right side but the beautiful coloured reflection and light lets you get away with doing it.
