Wild Romance

This image was shot in Kenya, and I chose it for the cover of my new book Wild Romance, a large format coffee table-style photo book featuring Africa's most romantic safari lodges. The book contains 300 pages with 1,700 full color photographs of 48 lodges in six African countries: Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and South Africa. For each lodge I photographed the rooms inside and outside, the food, activities, wildlife and landscapes. Daniëlla, my lovely wife, did all the texts and shot and edited all 48 video clips on the enclosed DVD.

This image was shot at sunrise from the deck of our room. I used a 2 stop NDG to tame the highlights and to darken the sky. There's quite a lot of sky in this shot because I wanted to have enough room for type.

If you're looking for a great book featuring the best safari accommodation in Africa, or simply want to surprise your partner with a book full of romantic getaways, look no further.

And here's the final cover design.

.... wildly successful! A visual photo that speaks right to the heart of your title and theme. The light, the lamps, chairs and floor planks with hand-crafted look...together is just oozes with other-worldly escapism. A beauty of a photograph for your cover.

I think it's absolutely superb, Marsel, and a great choice for the cover. I'm surprised there are not more comments on this one. Probably b/c this site is so heavily nature-centric, by definition.

Incredibly good image, Marsel. It sure gives one the "wish we were there" feeling.

I recognized this shot as the cover from your book. Catpures that wish you were there feel brilliantly.
