Colorado Columbine

by Kelly Black

This is an image of a single columbine, taken in June this year at Golden Gate State Park in Colorado. I was out practicing with my Vivitar 100 mm macro lens, an old lens I had bought at a pawn shop. Had to teeter on a fairly steep slope to get this shot, but these were the best looking columbines that I had found in the area, so I took the risk!
Thanks in advance for any comments or critique.

Beautiful image, Kelly. Your square crop works well for me on this one.

Spectacular! I love blue columbines, just don't see too many in Texas. You did a fabulous job capturing this one...colors are magnificent! Great post, Kelly! :toast:

Beautifully captured and composed, Kelly. The lighting is just right for bringing out the petal textures - extremely well done in the circumstances !!

Nice composition (even though a bit tight on the left side), great colour tones and light.
