Burden Falls Shawnee NF

This waterfall in the Shawnee NF in Southern Illinois only flows vigorously after a heavy rain. By this time of year most of the leaves are down, but that allows us to see the falls from the outflow streambed.

The larger image isn't so compressed.

Nikon D2x; Nikkor 24-85 @30mm; 2.2s at f/13 -1; ISO 100; tripod; mirror up; cable release

Comments and criticisms always welcome.

Nice looking shot. I like the cascading pathways leading to a beautiful stair stepped falls.
Maybe crop off that left tree.
Cheers

Interesting study and nice capture. Greens, blues, grays and whites come through to make this a mystic setting. I like the lines the stream takes from the falls. The rounded boulders add texture. Good composition.
Again, I like.

Nice quiet shot of the "in between season." I like the diagonal stair stepping comp.

I like the foreground rocks and the leaves add some nice color. Add the nice waterfall, nice shot.

Very nice, David. We've had plenty of rain this fall, haven't we? I think I might crop the tree on the left.

I like the expansive view that comes with the change of seasons. This feels a bit blue to me, but it goes well with the slightly misty/foggy atmosphere.
