Gathering Moss

You know what they say about rolling stones... This is from a month or so ago here in Vermont. It was a particularly tough day for photographing landscapes even though the color was peak, extremely dreary light and high winds. Instead of getting frustrated by the conditions I headed to this little stream and decided to work in tight, focusing on patterns and texture found in more intimate comps.

Outstandingly seen and captured. I like the DOF and the composition with the colored leaves adding the icing on the cake.

Beautiful intimate scene, Kurt! There is a fine balance between elements, boulders, water, water lines and leaves that's held together beautifully by the green of the moss and water (just a hint there).

Beautiful shot! The zig-zag effect of the water works well. The green rocks and colored leaves stand out nicely against the white water.

Great job. You have certainly made lemonade, rather than complaing about the poor conditions.

Love the lines of the cascade of the water through your comp and the touches of autumn color provided by the leaves on the moss/rocks. Really nice.

The color is popping! I like the differences in the greens and how they contrast with the orange and yellows. Also, the contrast between the soft, silky water and the non rolling stones works well with the chosen composition.

Nice. I like the balancing and the triangular structure given by the three boulders. well done. another example showing there is ALWAYS something worth photographing in ANY situation and condition...you just need to escape from your preconceived ideas or original plans and let Nature impose its rythm on you...cheers

I really like this comp, Kurt. The rocks are laid out at key points; but what really draws me into this image is the way the water weaves its way through this intimate scene. Now if I could only find some nice moss covered boulders like this.
