Forest Scene

If I want to relax, I head for the woods just to enjoy nature, and get away from all the craziness that surrounds me in every day life. Even in the woods there is reminders of the world we live in today, with nowhere to run or hide.

It often baffles me that I can be in the middle of the woods on a tiny narrow trail and I can come across car parts, housing foundations, glass bottles etc. There are very few places our impact hasn't been felt. Thanks for sharing this.

Very pathetic. Every time I hike in the Mt Hood area, i come upon scenes like this - junk dumped, bags of garbage pitched, etc..
One solution is to have free recycle places. Here in CA, it costs $50 in some places to bring in and dump off old TV's, for instance. Instead, they are left on the side of the road in the dark at night.

Excellent shot, sad as it is.

It really amazes me too, John. A few weeks ago while hiking on a trail, I came across a bunch of beer bottles, broken and glass spread everywhere. Then nearby remnants of a small fire were visible...obviously some teens out in the evening having their drunken escapade. BUT what really pisses me off is that there are trash bins all long this particular trail because it's one of the more used ones. Why couldn't they have just dumped the bottles into the trash on their way out? Mother Nature surely is pissed as well!

I hear you John, the people who do this are the same ones who don't think twice about throwing garbage out their car window. Self-centered and ignorant. Sandy is right, theres an economic force behind it, but that doesnt excuse this behavior. I think as nature photographers we must have a unified voice to speak out against the practice of trashing our own home. Weve only got one planet to live on. :wavey:
