I was going to say "there looks to be some weird foggy overcast on this shot"... then I realized, the smoke might have something to do with it

I like the shot as it's unique and certainly nothing I've experienced here (fortunately, though there were terrible forest fires nearby about 14 years ago). I thin I would prefer a horizontal though to show more of the fire/smoke and less of the mountain.

Luke, I've got about 50 pictures of this, so I have several good horizontals and with less zoom to show the immense area burning. I'll post others as time goes on.
For this one, I wanted to show the helicopter and fire-retardant drop.

Nice shot and well deserved! It still amazes me that these kinds fires occur in today's day in age with cell phones and relatively fast fire stopping technolgy.

Just out of curioustiy, what's that small, nearly circular object near the center of the image? Is that an anomaly caused by the fire/smoke or just a dust bunnie?

Eric, there was so much junk in the air, I don't know - likely just a dust spot I managed to miss cloning out.

Interesting shot and great display of what happens to man's creations in severe drought. Congrats on the EP!
