Fall Greets Winter WC407

Guess ill kick off this week's theme...

Probably most would look at the Winter-Spring transition as the "hopeful" one, but Winter is my favorite time of year for photography, so i always look forward to those last fall colors being smothered in fresh white snow! This was shot a couple weeks ago in the Wet Mountains after the first big snow of the year (about 15" here). Aside from the 'rebirth' of Winter, it also marked the rebirth of my photography, since this was one of the first shots i took with my new Mark II. Another 'hopeful' transition. Let it Snow!

Neat image Stan, and motivational! I've got the skis sharpened and ready to go, unfortunately it's 60 degrees here in the Northeast. Might be awhile before we get to shoot winter scenes. :toast:

Stan,
What a beautiful combination of colors and textures arranged around that sunburst. Don't tell me if the Sun is going down or coming up, because this just feels like the rebirth of a day as well as the start of the sparkling winter season.

Stan, I like this image. Remember me on all my days which I spent in the winter mountains (especially now when I spend most of the time in tropical area). Two subjects strongly point my attention, it the sun and the tree with last year leaves covered partly by snow. According to my estimation this photo was taken late January or February. Am I right?

Love the touch of warm color in that tree and the sunstar. Really nice work, Stan.

Looks cold. Love the sunstar with the clear blue sky and the tree with the last of the fall color (looks as if that tree is leaning towards the sun trying to gather some warmth and hang on for as long as it can). Great winter scene.

Beautiful shot, Stan. The back light on the tree is perfect. We could use some of that snow out here.
