The light was less than optimum by the time this big boy finally made his way out into the meadow, but when it comes to shooting wildlife, I just work with what I'm given. This shot wasn't my favorite of the day, but something about it has kind of grown on me - should I keep it or scrap it?

I like this too. Maybe it's the piece of straw in his mouth. Magnificent animal. You might consider taking down the bright spots in the background a bit.

I also was first drawn to that piece of grass in his mouth. I like the surroundings but agree there is a strong highlight in the snow just above his antler that could be toned down. I like the softer cooler winter light.

Guy, if it has grown on you by all means keep it! Personally, I do like the buck and its relaxed strolling pose with that piece of grass between its lips. What detracts from my appreciation of the image is the BG. The trees fight with the antlers for dominance so to speak. Also the bright snow in the far distance does not help the image much. Maybe better light on the animal with the BG being darker could have worked. In other words, yes with wildlife you cannot orchestrate every situation, but still light remains incredibly important and can make or break an image. Just my thoughts for what its worth

The bull is quite nice, but the complications of the tree filled background and white snow spots compete for attention.
