We were with this small pride for about 2 hours. When, after repositioning the vehicle several times as they walked along, they came over, laid down and went to sleep in front of us.
Canon D30 17-85 1/500th @ f6.7 iso 400. jpg sRGB (before I knew better). I think this is about as good as it's going to get.

Hope you like it!

All comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking
Neil

Nice family image, with "Dad" watching over things. Must have been neat to see. Great capture.

Hi Neil,

This is a beautiful tranquil scene that has the added benefit and interest of the nursing behaviour - very well done. Besides simply liking the scene itself, I like the implied diagonal and how the nursing female/cubs are in direct line with the stare of the male. I see (and get your point) about not being able to do much with the JPEG image - but is this shot full frame? If it is (or is close to it), about the only thing I'd suggest would be a slight crop (pretty much equally on all sides) - at least for web presentation purposes. Please note that I'm talking minor crop - maybe 10% of the image area at most...

Cheers...thanks for sharing this...

Here is the slight crop as per Brad's suggestion.

Such a wonderful scene to witness and photograph. I love the nursing behavior especially that mom looks so relaxed and that one back paw of the kitten against moms front leg. Dad proud oversight just makes it better. I love both the original post and the repost. Both have excellent details.

Very nice Neil, an image with a very strong image to portray 'family'. I am kind of envious I must admit. Well done. I like the crop of the repost btw.

Both versions are nice and I agree with Brad that the crop for web presentation is better. If printed for hanging, the first version might be best. I would be very happy with this capture!! :toast:
