Sunrise for Joe

Wednesday the 18th was the one-year anniversary of my good friend passing away. As I was sitting at my desk, writing something on FB @ him, I saw a beautiful sunrise out of my window with two layers of clouds and some interesting swirls. My goal was to get the sun between the split of the tree on the LHS and get a nice burst. Anyway, this is cropped to pano as I kept getting a red spot TRC in all versions, trying several settings, etc. Thanks for looking and any C&C is welcome!! H2, ISO-100, 1/1000th, f4.5.

This is an emotional capture Bill. The trees' silhouettes and the direct light make this interesting and symbolic, particularly when coupled with your experience.

Thank you Dietrich. Sorry if I rambled. I was really trying to get the silhouettes against the sky. This probably won't be for some, but that's ok. :toast:

Holy ship Didl, glad you are both fine (and your gear)!!! Yeah, you got me beat on that one. And on Friday the 13th too... Well, I could get into my story on how I totalled my VW Passat turbo stick that I loved on August 20th '09 and broke my ribs, etc... !!! Nah, I probably already rambled on that one. Take care.

Cool shot. The sun's a little overpowering for my taste, but that's really a non-issue. Very nice :toast:

Bill,

Very sorry about your friend - but this is a nice tribute and remembrance.

You did well to get the sun placed between the trees. Not sure if you'll get similar chances in the future, and I'm not sure if you're going for a full sun burst, but what I try and do is find a tree branch or trunk that's large enough to obscure most of the sun. Then you move just enough to get it peering around the edge. I don't know what the best position is, but I think you can get more of a burst with a little bit less of the sun hitting the lens.

Anyway, very pretty silhouette. The clouds and blue sky are pretty as well.

Thank you Lon. Yes, in retrospect, I should have used the larger tree/trunk to the left to try adn obscure it more and get more of a burst. Appreciate the comments...
