Ducks on ice aren't terribly interesting. So, last winter when I photographed some on Glat Creek in Jackson Hole, I looked for interesting patterns. Hope my efforts produced something interesting. Comments welcome.

I like the comp very much. The lack of feather detail is a real downer. Was this due to noise reduction or a severe crop?

I like the pattern and overall composition; I try for some strong graphics in images whenever I can incorporate them.

But it needs better image quality as nothing in the frame is particularly sharp. I don't know if it is from camera motion (you don't mention using a tripod or other camera support and 1/60th is just too slow for safe hand holding at 320mm), lack of depth of field, or some other issue.

Good eye in looking for repetition and patterns to add interest to your photograph. I like what you've done here with that. I do agree that the photo lacks in detail but the overall composition is great. :toast:

An interesting comp Roger, I think it would be better if the drinking duck were sharper. :toast:

The image definitely needs to be sharper. The second duck is actually sharpest. I did use a tripod, but the light was poor and I'm often disappointed with the Sigma's tendency to be soft at longer focal lengths. Anybody else use this lens?
