Flora Theme

First Light, First Fruits
Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/50 @ f22

Not quite a theme shot but real close. Chrissy just bought this young hibiscus and it was still in the pot sitting on our front patio this morning when the dawn light broke through the trees to the east. I liked the play of light and shadow especially. This is also the first bloom for this plant. It's unusual for this variety to produce such a nice flower from its first bud. All comments welcome.>=))>

Bill: Like you I like the interplay of light and shadow in this image. Some of the petals on the right may be a bit hot though. This variety is similar to the Chinese hibiscus which I find difficult to capture because the petals bunch up around the stamen; so well done for capturing this. :toast:

I like the light and shadow in this too Bill. Excellent detail and light. I also think the orientation in the frame adds interest. Beautiful image.

Bill it took me a moment to get into the image! I like the presentation. The blossom coming in from above and the portrait quality lighting. Excellent capture. :toast:

Bill, a very fine capture with wonderful use of light and shade :toast:
What is the flora theme though - is it something like weekly challenge?

I really like the comp, Bill. The orientation, with the hanging flower looks like an ornate lamp. :toast: :toast:
