Canyon Towhee

Here is another view of my cooperative Canyon Towhee taken last Monday in Catalina State Park near Tucson, AZ. I usually find these to be reclusive birds and I was pleased to find this one in the open. The light was overcast (unusual for AZ) and it was quite cold.

Thanks for your comments and suggestions!

Hans,

I liked your other post of this bird, but I find that I like this one more because of the background and rich details of the branch the Towhee is perched on in this image. I like that you still have a great view of the eye in this image even though the head turn is different.

I feel like I am standing beside you when I am viewing this shot, and I like that feeling a lot as it seems to have drawn me right into the image.

Love the feather details, light and comp. Very well done.

Good looking image Hans. I've never seen one of these and hope to at some point. Excellent image.

I love the fine details in the feathers and that the birds eye catches and holds my eye. The pose suggests the bird is about to perform a disappearing act. Nicely done.

The towhee is great Hans and the background works well for me, giving a nice sense of habitat but the twigs are OOF enough to not be a bother. I think your framing is perfect.

Even better than the last Hans, although I might consider darkening it just a little. :toast:

I prefer this one Hans - lovely detail along the flanks and breast and an obliging little turn of the head.

cheers
