Really like the contrast of the yellows and white against the dark background, but the falls leave me wanting to see more, either the flow to the right or more of the front of the falls.

Lee, I also like the bright yellows set agains the darker blues. The water movement is pretty interesting too.

Nice colours and water effect. I would like a wider composition, to see the complete fall.

I particularly like the top 2/3 of the image. A scroll crop of the bottom 1/3 seem to put better focus on the more interesting elements in the scene.

Lee,

I echo Tony's comment about the crop. The swirls and blurs at the very bottom, while interesting, don't really add to the scene that you've tried to capture and I would consider cropping about 1/2 of the pool at the bottom. The colors and the processing seem pretty good, although it's often hard to tell with these posted sizes. What I find most interesting is the perspective and viewpoint where it looks and feels like we're viewing the water flow at eye level (which could very well be since water runs down hill.... )

On a side note, I would encourage you to post a few more comments on other folks images. I know everyone appreciates the comments.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have gone back and made some changes to the photo based I what I have read here. Lon, I will try and critique more (although I am not sure if I am at a level to do so).

Thanks again. :toast:

Hey Lee,

Lovely cool colours here! I like your viewpoint across the falls--unusual. I also appreciate the silky water. I agree a crop from the bottom would keep my attention on those parts of the image that drew my attention, and perhaps even a teeny crop from the left.

Also, I know how you feel about offering up a critique. When I first joined, I felt reluctant to offer any compliments or critiques. But the great thing about NPN is that it is a supportive learning environment, and we are only offering our opinions after all. The photographer can take away what he or she will. Those who wish to grow as artists benefit the most from respectful critiques.

So jump in!
