Cool shot! This is one of my favorite local spots to jump over to for sunrise, I've shot it well over 50 times and have yet to get bored!

Compositionally this is looking nice, but I might adjust the water to be a little less cyan but still maintaining its cool tones.

Well done, and welcome! Maybe I'll run into ya on the mountain someday :toast:

I love these types of shots, I often shoot flow water similarly to what you have done. I love how cold the water appears and the sky and Mt Hood are crystal clear. Great shot. How close to the water is that D80? :wavey:

Welcome to NPN/ESS, Scott.
That's a great first post. The colors are lovely and that sunlit peak in the distance creates some nice depth. Shutter speed - excellent. A little suggestion would be to just lessen the polarizer darkening in the center of the sky ever so slightly. This is really minor.
Enjoy your time in this great community and have a good 2010.

I like the blue tones that tell about winter cold... and the warm light in the background. Very nice!

Great shot Scott! I love the light on the clouds at the mountain peak, the contrast of the blue in the snow and the subtle light on the mountain is great! Welcome to NPN from another new guy, hoping to see lots more great shots from you.

Scott,
This image looks technically perfect to me aside from the middle of the sky (from poarizer)... maybe that can be fixed a bit? I do wish that the mountain was a little more prominent but I'm not sure how possible that would have been to gain that perspective.

Scott,

Welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery! What a fantastic winter image for your first post here. I love the composition and the low viewpoint. The color, exposure and contrast are all spot on and the presence of Mt. Hood (and the light and clouds) are simply icing on the cake. Beautifully captured.

We look forward to your images and your participation in the forums and galleries.

Love the low perspective and the prominence of the cool blue flow across the entire foreground. Definitely one of my favorite spots too.

Thanks to everyone for the kind comments and warm welcomes. I appreciate the feedback.
Tony - thanks for your photoshop actions/tutorials. I used the luminosity masks in this photo. Glad to see your sense of humor about my last name!
Ryan - thanks for the tip about the cyans in the water. I will try it with a little less cyan and see how it looks. I really enjoyed your new website.
Lee - the camera was about 18 inches above the water.
Andreas/Wayne - Thanks for your feedback about the dark central sky due to the polarizer. I will try brightening up that area a little and see how it looks.

gorgeous, Scott. In addition to what's been mentioned, if it were mine, as an alternative, I might crop some of the water off the bottom.

Thanks again for all of the comments. Here is version #2. I tried to even out the central darkness created by the polarizer, used used slightly tighter crop and took the cyans down just a bit. - Scott
