Early Morning Frost.

by John Kerr

Gallery: Man & NaturePosted January 13, 2010250 views15 comments
I will place this in Man and Nature instead of Close-up because of the barbed wire. Hopfully not the wrong category.
Very early morning of heavy hoarfrost blanketing everything this past Fall.
Manual Exposure, 1/50sec, F6.3, ISO 100, Canon 100mm Macro.
Thanks for looking and any C&C welcomed.
Large version available.

John, I never thought it would be possible to make barbed wire look lovely, but you did! Really nice colors, DOF and bokeh on this photo.

John: Well seen and the ice crystal is really cool. The left side is more in focus than the right and could perhaps be corrected by lining up the plane of the sensor. I am not sure whether you used a tripod; a greater DOF would also get the lower bard in focus. Just my 1 cent worth.

We don't get too many detail shots like this in M&N but this is wonderful. Perfect DOF and lovely bokeh.

That is neat! :wavey: I grew up on a ranch, and I saw a lot of barbed wire, and a lot of frost, and this is the best combination I've seen..... Nicely done.

I love barbed wire, but I have never seen it as beautiful as this - and the background makes the photo.

Really nice work in seeing this and capturing all the fine details with your camera. And the background was perfect. Beautiful.

Beautiful macro shot! I really like the way that only the central area is sharp, as the shot might appear too busy if everything was in focus

Love the balance, background, and the frosty scene here John, maybe a tad more DOF.

This is awesome macro shot, John. I love the details here and the BG is perfect. Did you happen to take any other images with just a bit more DOF?

This is soooo simply cool. I love it. Magnificent detail in the frost and other in-focus areas. Nice selective focus, too.
