This is a really interesting shot--there is a lot to like here--I love the light, the open bill pose, and the perch that the bird is on. In spite of that, I'm left feeling like this is an "almost but not quite" shot. The bg feels a little too bright, and the broad bright diagonal blur from lower left to upper right that cuts through the bird is rather distracting. I wonder if a couple steps to the left would have been better.

Sweet light on this little guy Charlie. The rock is good, but I think there's a bit too much of it. If this were mine, I'd try a tighter crop and lost the bottom half of the perch.

Charlie,
Loving the open bill and dramatic light and the contrast created by the sharp edge of the rock which is juxtaposed by the round bird meeting the angled lines at the top.

I like this as is Charlie. The light is awesome and I like the shadow play on the bird. Very pleasing image IMO.

I love this as is Charlie. The singing pose is just great as is the light. I still need one of these on my life-list and hope I can maybe see one this year.

This is a beautiful scene with some great light. Love the singing pose and the rock the wren is sitting on. I'd like to see the background a bit darker and the bird a bit brighter. I hope you don't mind my quick PS work on your image. I used Tony Kuyper's luminosity masks to mask the "Bright Lights" which included most of the brightly lit rocks. Then a quick select of the bird to put it on it's own layer with a blending mode of Screen at an opacity of 44%. For me it puts more focus on the beautiful little wren. Very nice image.
Dang... Looks like my repost introduced more saturation which was not intended.... Sorry.

I like the orientation of the bird to the gorgeous dawn light.

Pretty cool, Keith. I've been meaning to play around with the same software. I like the glow that it brought out. I had already thought that I'd added saturation when I processed the original image. You've bumped it up a notch. Thanks for taking the time and teaching me a thing or two.

I can just hear him singin. So sweet. I really love the light (although I might want to tone it down a little) and the open bill. I like the environment too

Glorious light, Charlie. I like the contrast of the texture of the bird and the rocks and the angles the rocks make creates a strong composition. My eye is drawn directly to the bird and I don't find the bg at all distracting.

What a little beauty Charlie, I simply love the light in this image and the wren's pose. I could go either way on the comp, I like this as presented, but a little less rock might be good too.

I really like this Charlie. The light is really nice. You have done a very good job of keeping detail in both the shadows and highlights. That pose is great.

Extraordinary image Charlie. The warm light, beautiful rock (shape and colors), open beak...has it all. I like the small bird in large frame feel and the way you were able to get sufficient detail in the shadows. Super comp!!!

I love it as is Charlie - the bird seemingly singing to the sun, maybe trying to talk it in to not going down. For me, the contrasts in the light here are a positive. You and your wrens are driving me nuts - first the Canyon variety and now this. I'm gonna get me some this summer, I swear...

Wonderful tones and light, I like the image as is with the rocks, adds a sense of scale, well done.
