Had a nice hike to Swatera Falls in Schuylkill County PA. Took a bunch of shots since nobody else was around. This is one of my favorites. This is about 90% full frame, cropped to square. C&C welcomed

Canon Rebel XT, Tamron 18-250@22mm, f16,1/10sec, ISO100, circular polarizer. Shot in raw and processed with Photoshop Camera Raw 4.6 and Photoshop CS3.

Cool little falls, Neven. I think there is potential here, but this subject is in need of some good light (and maybe a bit of fresh snow--the discolorations in the snow/ice here are not completely attractive) It also looks a bit soft, might want to oversharpen a bit for web presentation. Its great to see these not-so-well-known places though, thanks for sharing!

Stan, thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it. As to the red colors, they are kind of natural up here. It is coal mining country and there is a mine upstream. The colors come from the mining residues. For years this falls was gone until the EPA made the mine use new water conservation measures.

It's a nice place Neven. I agree with Stan, this picture needs sharpening. The blue sky brings my eyes from the main theme a bit. I think that, there are a lot's of possibilities, and you'll take more beatuful shots. I am waiting for them!

You have a lot of things happening in this image, from the cloudy, blue sky to the details of ice and water. Sometimes when we have many potential subjects in one image, they compete with one another and the overall effect is a bit cluttered or distracting. While overall shots are great for showing the viewer what you saw, the camera brings in all those little details that your brain overlooked when it saw these wonderful falls. A suggestion would be to return to this place if you can and simplify your subject matter. Try taking a shot of just a portion of the falls--perhaps a contrast between water and ice? Or I imagine there are nice details in the wet rocks, too. Finally, such a nice blue sky takes my eye away from the waterfall altogether, so maybe leave out the sky next time you head out. If you go back, I'd like to see your further work!

A very pretty fall with lots of potential. I would crop this to focus in on the falls only and all that cool sculpted ice. I think there could be several potentially nice crops here that would bring attention to the falls & ice. The image does appear a little soft. I have trouble sharpening for web presentation so can't really give you any advice except to look for the technique Marc Adamus uses. It's posted in a thread somewhere, maybe on PNWNP. I try to use it as much as possible and seems to work pretty well.
