Help me, I'm trapped!!

This is a "lucky" shot. Lucky I didn't break my neck! The lowland area by a local creek had evidently flooded before freezing. Walking on the snow, I had no idea I was actually on ice, until I stepped around some deadfall and slipped. The face was exposed by my carefully planted kiester.

Nikon D200,iso400, 1/125, f4, 105mmf2.8 macro

All c/c welcome, I'm here to learn as I'm usually an intimidated lurker.

Im not quite sure what im looking at. I guess its cracked ice, but it looks too purple-blue for ice. As an abstract, i need something to entice me or keep me engaged, and i can't find that here. Can you explain what it is you were tryng to depict--what aspect did you find intriguing here?

I like the purply-blue ice here, and I think I see a face in the three main shapes in the ice. But if this is what you were trying to convey, it may not be coming through as clearly as you hoped. Also, the edges of the image don't help your composition for me--I like the top and left with the dark ice but the snow crystals and dark shapes on the bottom and right are distracting.

Looks cool. I see the face that Stan fails to recognize...

It took a moment to register, but then ghostliness of this came right through. At first I thought it was just abstract, the anthropomorphism certainly adds a new dimension.

I see the ghostly face perfectly! If you would make a slight crop from the right and then clone out the lone small leaf between the face and the edge, you might focus attention on it more. The blue/purple seems a bit strong though. I'd be tempted to make the leaves and dark edges black - makes the face more ghostly! Glad you didn't hurt anything but your pride! I was out yesterday near a lakeshore and had to be extra careful where I stepped since most of the lake is also covered with snow, and you can't tell where there might be thin ice underneath.
