I know this may be a little boring, but I liked the alert pose and I have not seen this species posted here lately.

Lovely Dan, very sharp (tailed)!! I haven't seen this species before. Nice soft background.

Boring? Not to me. I have never seen one of these. I love the intricate feather patterns on the breast and the alert pose. A very nice look at the eye and those pantaloons (sp?) on the legs. The sparkly snow is a great addition too.

Excellent image - I too like the alert pose, also the setting and cripsly presented plumage detail.

Gorgeous. Love everyting about this one Dan. I like how the grouse seems to be peering over the hill.

Not boring for me. I like the alert look and the contrast of the foreground and background. The blue cast in the snow is a little distracting. I've had great luck solving that problem by simply creating a Hue/Saturation Adjustment layer, selecting the blue channel and moving the saturation slider to the left to remove the blue cast.

Here is a quick and dirty adjustment based on Keith's suggestion. Good tip. Thanks, Keith.

Nothing boring about this Dan. I too like the alert pose and the texture in the snow. I'd love to get a shot of the species this nice. To my eye there does seem to be a bit of a halo on the bird's right side, next to the dark shadows.

Not boring at all to me Dan. A species I will never see in my neck of the woods. Very nice detail and I really like the snow with the nice background. I think the snow does look better in the repost.

The detail of the bird stands out incredibly well from the background, and the foreground adds a great atmosphere. I disagree with your statement that this may be boring...far from it!

I certainly don't find this boring in the slightest! Firstly, I've never seen one and secondly, it's a very fine image indeed! The large version is stunning.
