These pods surround our deck yearly. My goal is showing their texture, form, and light reflectiveness. This shot was illuminated by a closeup ring flash and darkened in Lightroom after conversion to B&W.

Nice detail and dof. Reminds me of the anemones after they have flowered in the alpine areas. Wonder if they're related.

Welcome. Nice to have another PNW shooter posting and commenting.

Nicely chosen pov, with the emphasis on the upper pod, Michael. This looks really good in b & w - the lighting seems spot on to me.

This makes me think of jellyfish. I like you chose a B&W image for this. Nice tones

Very interesting image Michael and I think the lighting is very well done. I also like the conversion. My only reservation is the dof and I might have been inclined to go for more depth but not having seen the subject I certainly don't know that. I like the image as posted.

Excellent conversion and comp, and the dof works really well. Very well done.

Michael: This is close for me but not quite there. The soft lower pods pull my eye a bit and make me yearn for a bit more DOF. OTOH I do like the conversion and the light as well as the unique subject. Nicely done. >=))>

This is very well done and works nicely in black and white. I have these in my yard and can never get anything as nice as this.
