Sliver of Moon

Taken near Page, AZ, in September last year. Such a splendid evening of photography. The sun had set just moments before. Pretty minimalist for me!

D700, 70-200/2.8 @ 82 mm, tripod; f 22, 1.0s, ISO 320, -1.67 ev.

Took awhile for this photo to grow on me, so, I sure would like to know your thoughts. Comments and critique much appreciated, as always.

Simple and very beautiful. The foreground shapes look a bit "rendered" to me but that's probably only me, forget about it.
The gradient in the sky is wonderful and the moon is placed in a very pleasant way in the frame.

I like it!

A little too minimalist for me. I think I'd like some of the right cropped off to make more of a square image.

I like the simplicity of this. The tack sharp moon is fantastic with the silhouette and light. My one thought might be to crop it to place the moon closer to the upper left corner (some off the left, top, and bottom)

I like the minimalistic approach of the shot. Think it could look even better after a slight right crop.

Love the simplicity of this! Ideally I would have liked to see a tree or something to give a sense of scale to the image, but still a very pleasant image!

Great in its simplicity and with its soothing colours. The smooth, jet black hills work wonderfully.

Yes, this is about as simple as it can get! But the color gradient here is really beautiful. I can't tell at this size, if you can see the whole moon or not. It looks like you can? I like this one a lot.

I may be mistaken, but this looks like it was taken at the same place as your last photo, just later in the day. That would certainly put the moon in the right place. That bump on the horizon looks familiar. I like the simplicity of this and the colors are very peaceful.

I like the minimalist look and I like that you blacked out all detail in the foreground.

Simple and very effective. Beautiful as well! And your quote is from Tennessee Williams' play, "The Glass Menagerie." I can never forget Katherine Hepburn saying, " a tiny silver sliver of a moon."

I love the simplicity in this image, Catherine. Nothing extra is needed here. The ridgeline silhouete, the color gradiant in the sky and the sliver of moon work beautifully together.

Hi Catherine :wavey: Very simple and serene. the black hills make a great contrast, against the beautiful sky.
