Befriending a Bittern

I spotted this American Bittern a few days ago on the refuge and I'm sure he is the same bittern I found last week, hunting in the same spot. Last week we spent 45 minutes together as I followed and recorded a small part of his morning. I was happy to see him again in one of "our" favorite hunting spots but he apparently was NOT so happy to see me, all he did was stick his tongue out! I know when I'm not wanted and left.

He sure knows how to tell a photographer when he doesn't want his photo taken. Very interesting and funny. I hope you run into him again when he is in a more cooperative mood.
